Mandrake’s CEO Receives The Paul Mulvihill/NABS Humanitarian Award
Stefan Danis, CEO of Mandrake and NEXCareer, launched a unique fundraising program to raise $25,000 for NABS, half-way around the world as he participated in the Gobi March in June 2009. This event is a six-day, 250km foot race, which Time Magazine ranks as the second toughest endurance competition in the world. Mr. Danis, who was the first in his age group and first Canadian to cross the Gobi finish line, finishing 14th overall, exceeded his goal by $16,000, in raising more than $41,000.
He increased his overall fundraising target to $65,000 to raise a minimum of $25,000 through a second race, this time in the Atacama Desert in Chile from March 7-11, 2010. Mr. Danis and two teammates completed the race in first place.
Stefan was presented with The Paul Mulvihill/NABS Humanitarian Award at the 26th annual NABS Gala fundraiser on May 11 in Toronto.
The Paul Mulvihill/NABS Humanitarian Award is presented annually, to honour those from the communication industry that have volunteered to better the lives of others through outstanding contribution to NABS in their career.

| Welcome to InterViews Online!
InterViews Online is a service, provided by Mandrake, to assist you and your organization in developing strategies for attracting and retaining talent.
At the apex of the 'War for Talent', we attended the first-ever Conference for Talent Officers in Austin TX. The need for and the challenge of Talent Strategies was debated as C-level executives, responsible for talent management, were grasping with the insanity surrounding talent acquisition and retention. Remember those days?
As the markets took a nasty turn, with tech, e-, telecom, consulting, and marcom sectors leading the downward dip, most organizations capitalized on the slowdown by reverting to their old talent management philosophy. Sound familiar?
Now the economy is improving, consumer confidence is rising, interest rates are low, and very soon, many organizations may find themselves back in a raging war for talent. What has been learned?
A recent study conducted by E & Y ranked Talent Acquisition and Retention as the second most important priority for CEO's today, behind product bundling and services. We predict Talent will be #1 within 18 months.
Are you taking steps to become the employer of choice?
Are you insulating your company against unhealthy turnover?
Do you have a retention program for your 'A' players?
Are you fishing for talent in the best pools?
Have you built a talent attraction process delivering speed, results, and goodwill?
Are you feeding your talent supply chain?
With Mandrake's expanded service offering, we would be happy to advise you on any of the above issues.
In the meantime, enjoy the newsletter!
Sincerely,
Stéfan Danis
CEO and Chief Talent Officer

Who Will Lead?
Twelve Canadian Organizations Discuss How To Assess Executive Talent
by Ron Robertson for the Ivey Business Journal
Numerous processes in business are both an art and a science. Assessing executive talent is one such process. This author surveyed senior human resource professionals, and while he found that firms used different tools to assess executive performance, their practices and ability to predict performance could be distilled into five principles.
Readers will learn what they are and how to apply them in this article.

The Four Keys To Success With Virtual Teams
By Erin Meyer for Forbes.com
When your team is all over the world instead of in one building, different rules apply.
Today's financial woes have forced many companies to pick members of project teams from across various global locations and have them communicate virtually--by phone, e-mail and videoconference--thereby saving both time and money.
Click here for the complete article and great tips on how to successfully manage remote teams.
